A Turkish court has accepted an indictment seeking up to 18 years in jail for German-Turkish journalist Deniz Yucel and chose to release him from custody pending trial, Anadolu reported on Friday. He denied the accusation.

Gauri van Gulik, Europe Director for Amnesty International, said their sentencing had "drained the joy from celebrations" over Yucel's release. A Reuters photographer saw his plane taxiing after landing at Berlin's Tegel airport.

Yucel gave himself up to police a year ago after initially taking refuge inside a German diplomatic compound in Istanbul following reports that a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

"This is a good day".

A spokesperson for Germany's Foreign Minister confirmed Yucel's release. "I can assure you there are no agreements, trade-offs, or deals in connection with this".

Prosecutors charged Yucel with "making terror propaganda" and "inciting public hatred and hostility", state-run news agency Anadolu reported.

DHEC would not specify the county where the child died. "I can't believe that somebody sent her home", Victor said. On Friday, Ralph Grover Sr, 63, rolled up to the department on his Harley motorcycle on a flu shot mission.

On Thursday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel called on Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim for a fast and fair trial for the journalist who has not been formally accused of anything, reports Efe news.

His arrest in Turkey last February had been a major sticking point in relations between Berlin and Ankara, which became increasingly tense following the failed coup attempt against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in July 2016. Earlier this week Yildirim had raised the prospect of Yucel being freed.

A Turkish court has released a German-Turkish journalist in a move apparently aimed at easing tensions and repairing economic ties with Germany.

Yucel's Turkish lawyer tweeted that "finally a release ruling has been made concerning my client".

Merkel was also cool on Turkey's hopes of joining an EU customs union, saying the bloc first needed "to be more convinced of progress on the rule of law", where there had been "no developments" recently.
