The 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea have been largely without incident so far by way of injuries, but US luger Emily Sweeney fell victim to a particularly risky crash that easily could have resulted in debilitating pain.

Team USA luger Emily Sweeney suffered a brutal crash in Pyeongchang on Monday night, spinning out and careening against the walls several times. "USA's Emily Sweeney crashes in luge, heading to hospital", CNN's Will Ripley tweeted.

As she was getting into an ambulance, Sweeney said, "I'm fine".

Emily was able to walk about 10 minutes after the crash, according to the Associated Press.

Officials stopped competition while medical personnel entered the track to tend to Sweeney, who remained prone before walking off the ice to applause from the crowd and her competitors.

She was in her fourth run and in curve 9 when she lost control of the sled, bounced around and crashed.

Trump Signs Budget Agreement, Ending US Government Shutdown
The debt limit would be suspended through March 2019, putting the next vote on it safely past this year's midterm elections. Portman has been a leader in the Senate advocating for additional funding and more tools to combat this epidemic.

"I'm very sore, and pretty stiff", Sweeney added. The stands were filled with fans cheering raucously, and they immediately went silent waiting for some sort of sign that Sweeney would be all right.

"I'm going to go get an X-ray on my back after this, but I wanted to have the last word".

Sweeney is in her first Olympics. It's a bummer, for sure, and I know that I'm better than that. According to an online broadcast, she was taken to a hospital.

A Sergeant in the New York Army National Guard, Emily Sweeney fought for years to make her Winter Olympics debut.

German lugers Natalie Geisenberger and Dajana Eitberger won the gold and silver in the event, while Alex Gough of Canada took the bronze.
