The US has expressed frustration with the failure of South Sudanese leaders to put an end to the country's four-year civil war. It's mostly symbolic since the USA has nearly no defense trade with the East African country in the first place. The ongoing violations by the parties especially that which is orchestrated by the government troops in Bieh, Yei, Western Upper Nile and several locations in South Sudan are unacceptable.

Humanitarian needs in South Sudan continue to escalate, mainly due to conflict, displacement and food insecurity.
