During testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, the six heads of the USA intelligence community gave their assessment that Russian Federation believes its 2016 election meddling was "highly successful" and they are laying the groundwork to meddle in the midterm elections later this year, Catherine Herridge reported on "Outnumbered Overtime".

The U.S. government's top intelligence official said on Tuesday he expects Russian Federation to continue using propaganda, false personas and other tactics to undermine the upcoming elections.

Coats told members of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee that they "need to assume that there might be interference" after Russian Federation "upped their game" by manipulating social media ahead of the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Central Intelligence Agency Director Mike Pompeo also attended the hearing.

"We have seen Russian activities and intentions to have an impact on the next election cycle", Pompeo said.

"This is pervasive", Coats said.

FBI Director Christopher Wray said he has not been "specifically directed by the president" to combat Russian meddling.
