A longtime personal aide to the president, McEntee was sacked from the White House on Monday over an investigation led by the Department of Homeland Security into "serious financial crimes", according toCNN.
John McEntee, the former UConn quarterback whose trick shot video became a viral sensation in 2011, was sacked from his job as personal assistant to President Donald Trump on Monday, according to multiple reports. He delivered messages to the president at the White House residence, carried markers for Trump to sign autographs, and, most recently, changed clocks at the White House to adjust for daylight saving time.
McEntee was escorted out of the White House on Monday without being allowed to collect his belongings, including his jacket, The Journal reported. The alleged crimes are said to not be related to Trump. The Times noted that White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has been frustrated by the number of White House staffers who were working with interim security clearances and was working to resolve the issue.
Mr McEntee, 27, who was well liked in the West Wing, occupied a key role, never far from Mr Trump in the White House or on the road.
But it doesn't appear that McEntee will be gone forever.

A White House spokesman declined to comment on McEntee's firing. He regularly traveled with Trump, and was seen boarding Marine One on the South Lawn of the White House as Trump headed for Pennsylvania on Saturday.
McEntee, though, will continue to work for Trump.
