Jeremy Corbyn admits being member of controversial Facebook group

  • Jeremy Corbyn is due to address the Scottish Labour conference on Friday

'It is repugnant if there are anti-Semitic posts - and I gather there are.

One of the group members is a well-known Holocaust denier, Paul Eisen, and members have shared articles from David Duke.

Reports in the British media Thursday did not name those who were suspended.

"It's a healthy democratic discussion - one I hope we can debate in the finest traditions of our movement, fuelled by passion, conviction and hard truths", she said. I replied by Facebook message to a couple of things about a suggestion on the vote on recognising Palestine, which I supported, and inviting a doctor to speak at an event.

And because the most active members of this Facebook group also tend to be the more anti-Semitic ones, their views set the tone for the group as a whole.

"Obviously, any anti-Semitic comment is wrong".

Posts on Palestine Live appear to include links to Holocaust denial myths, allegations of Israel's involvement in the 9/11 and 7/7 terror attacks as well as the training of Islamic State fighters, and conspiracy theories involving the Rothschild family.

Asked what he would say to leader Jeremy Corbyn if he sat down with him, he added: "I would want to see clearer signs of resolute action by a party and its leader before I would even sit down with them full stop". The spokesperson also said that Corbyn should not be held accountable for the discourse.

The head of Labour's global section gave money to a campaign against a group fighting anti-Semitism in the party.

"I know I've been criticised at times because I'm quite heavy on this, and I am heavy and so is Jeremy, we will not allow any racists within our party".

In addition to military equipment, the parade will include pageantry, with veterans dressed in period uniforms. It looks as though President Donald Trump is getting the military parade he wants in Washington.

"We also need to be clear, we could not accept a situation where we were subject to all European Union rules and European Union law, yet had no say in making those laws".

Jacqueline Walker, the former Momentum steering group member who is suspended from Labour for comments calling Jewish people "the main financiers of the slave trade", is also a member.

According to Collier, Corbyn was a member of the "Palestine Live" group at the time he was elected Labour leader in 2015.

Yesterday, during a visit to Derbyshire, Mr Corbyn said he "removed himself" from the private Palestine Live Facebook group in 2015.

In response to the suspensions, Lord Rabbi Jonathan Sacks called on Labour to "adopt a zero-tolerance approach to antisemitism".

A Labour spokesman added that Mr Corbyn was unaware of any anti-Semitic comments.

Is Labour heading for a painful and bitter split?

"I think one big push (and) we might be able to get the Labour front bench into the right place as well".

"A party that doesn't just accept - but proactively argues - that our country is culturally deeper and economically richer because of immigration, not despite it".

Mr Corbyn has been criticised for failing to demand that Theresa May fights to keep the United Kingdom inside the single market, with many Labour supporters believing a soft Brexit would be less damaging.
