Students from New Jersey to IN to California have said they will participate, as well as groups from schools as far as Ireland, Switzerland, Israel and Mexico, according to the event website.

"This lawsuit I think is an example of bonkers", said Dekle, who plans to leave the NRA as soon as his membership expires.

Redondo Beach police will be on hand for the demonstration at the busy intersection, Principal Jens Brandt said.

Zadravec said he's not surprised that Portsmouth students want to participate in what has become a national youth movement.

"We're going to work on moving forward and hitting every other state to make sure they follow the lead of Florida", he told reporters.

Students across the nation are expected to participate in walkouts that day, which will mark one month since the mass shooting.

"I plan to talk about my story and how I've been personally affected by gun violence", she said. "I will be making it clear to all students that this action will be subject to school consequences", said Hagen, explaining that if students comply with the guidelines, there will be no consequences.

Protests are planned at the other Torrance high schools and the activity at all will remain on campus, said Torrance Unified spokeswoman Tammy Kahn.

Students also came up with the idea of creating two banners to be placed in the auditorium.

Sen. Bill Galvano, a Bradenton Republican and one of the main sponsors of the legislation, says he expects Scott will sign it.

The two-term limit was approved in 1982 to prevent a repeat of a decadeslong reign by Mao Zedong , who died while in office. The amendment was one of several in a proposal that was voted on at a plenary meeting of the ongoing annual NPC session.

Dr. Lorraine Tacconi-Moore is school superintendent for SAU 24, which includes schools in Henniker, Weare and Stoddard.

On Wednesday, Imperato said, the school will be working to strike a balance between allowing the students to have their voices heard while maintaining safety and minimizing disruption. "It's nowhere near the long-term solution", said Chris Grady, a senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and one of the organizers of the March for Life later this month in Washington, D.C.

Scott said he is still "not persuaded" about the guardian program. "From our standpoint, no disciplinary consequences will be administered, and the school will continue to function as normal".

Tony Montalto, whose daughter Gina was killed in the shooting, read a statement from victims' families: "When it comes to preventing future acts of horrific school violence, this is the beginning of the journey".

Students may choose whether to participate, and those who choose not to will continue with their regular class schedule. Begley wrote that the school's schedule will be changed to allow the PtE resource period to overlap with the 10 a.m. walkout time.

The walkout's goal is "to demand Congress pass legislation to keep us safe from gun violence at our schools, on our streets and in our homes and places of worship", according to the event.

So, while lawmakers deserve credit for the steps they took, their failure to go further - enacting limits that, for other states, have been upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court as consistent with the Second Amendment - is sad.

Students from the Washington, D.C. area held a "lie in" protest outside the White House to honor victims of the Parkland shooting last week and call for reform of gun laws. A teenage gunman had rampaged through the halls of the freshman building at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County. The material includes 10 of the 81 recordings of frantic calls by students and parents.

"You said you were against teachers being armed". We applaud the members of the Florida Legislature that courageously voted against their own political self-interest to do the right thing for the safety of our schools.
