A Russian businessman and an associate of the one-time billionaire Boris Berezovsky, Nikolay Glushkov, has died in London.

Glushkov was found dead late on Monday at a house in southwest London's New Malden area.

Glushkov told the inquiry that he bumped into Litvinenko in the office of Boris Berezovsky, a powerful oligarch and émigré who was found dead in 2013 on the bathroom floor of his home in Berkshire, on the western outskirts of London.

A subsequent inquest failed to determine whether he had killed himself or died from foul play.

Police say there is no evidence to suggest a link to the March 4 poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter.

Glushkov worked in the 1990s for the state airline Aeroflot and Berezovsky's LogoVAZ auto company.

In 2000, he was arrested in connection with the embezzlement of Aeroflot's funds, and later charged with fraud and money laundering. He was sentenced to three years and three months in prison.

The victim is believed to be Nikolai Glushkov, who claimed political asylum in the United Kingdom after being convicted of fraud, the BBC reports.

At least one dead after bus carrying students crashes into ravine
He said he looked down to see the bus lying on its side near the base of a concrete embankment, its front end crumpled. WKRG in Mobile reported four patients remained at Sacred Heart, two in good condition and two in fair.

He gave evidence in a case in 2011 brought by Mr Beresovsky against Roman Abramovich, who he claimed had cheated him out of £3.2bn.

During the trial he told the court he had been taken "hostage" by Putin's administration, which tried to force Berezovsky to sell his TV station ORT.

Glushkov won notoriety in Russia's bare-knuckled transition to a market economy in the 1990s, when business, political and criminal interests often collided amid the privatization of state assets. In March 2017, Moscow's Savelovsky District Court handed him a second eight-year sentence in absentia for the embezzlement of Aeroflot's funds.

Authorities said the two are believed to have been poisoned by Novichok, a nerve agent believed to be 5 to 8 times more potent than VX or sarin.

Neighbour Patricia Egan said Mr Glushkov had lived there for several years, describing him as well educated and "a lovely fellow".

"It is extremely worrying that chemical agents are still being used to harm people".
