In the second round of a major tournament in Indian wells Serena Williams will play against tennis player from the Netherlands, Kiki Bertens. Vickery will face Naomi Osaka, who upset Aggie Radwanska after defeating Maria Sharapova in the first round.

The third-round match will be their earliest meeting in a tour event since their first duel as professionals, when Venus Williams won, 7-6 (4), 6-1, in the second round of the 1998 Australian Open.

At 37, Venus is the oldest in women's single draw at 2018 Indian Wells.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion won her opening match on Saturday held at Indian Wells, California, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, and now faces the victor between her younger sister Serena Williams, 36, and No. 29 seed Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands in the next round, reports Xinhua news agency. "I mean, she looked like she never lost a step", Venus said of her younger sister.

The sisters will resume their longtime rivalry on Monday.

The match on Monday will be the first time the two sisters will clash on court since the final of the Australian Open a year ago, which Serena won, though she was already pregnant.

The first set could have gone either way as Bertens troubled Williams, though the Dutchman's serve proved to be her downfall.
