CWG: Manika Batra - Mouma Das clinch silver in women's doubles table tennis

In table tennis, it was a memorable Games for Manika Batra as she picked up medals in all events she competed in - Singles Gold, Women's Doubles Gold, Women's Team Gold and rounding off the Games with Mixed Doubles Bronze.

India has 24 Gold Medals at CWG 2018 and 55 in total reaffirming its status as the third-ranked team in the Games.

"I am very happy that I won a gold medal for India, and I am waiting to come back and meet my family, my coach Sandeeep sir and all the Indians who supported me, thank you so much", she told ANI. They lost to Singapore's Tianwei and Mengyu Yu in straght games 11-5, 11-4 and 11-5. That win gave her Indian teammates the confidence they can beat Singapore, the dominant force at Commonwealth Games. He defeated Canada's Alexander Moore 7-3 to take home the bronze medal.

Indian shooter Anish Bhanwala, aged 15, created history by becoming the country's youngest ever Gold medal victor in the Commonwealth Games, in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol. Dipika had to endure the disappointment of not winning the mixed doubles gold in partnership but in joining Saurav Ghoshal on the podium, she helped him overcome the pain of an early exit in singles.

Batra, the architect of India's win in the team event, wasn't in her element in the final and the Singapore combination exploited the lack of co-ordination between their opponents to race to a 11-5, 11-4, 11-5 win to not just retain their title but also ensure that the women's doubles gold remains with the island country for the fifth straight time. He had missed out on a medal in Glasgow.

Also, this was for the first time where both the men's and the women's team bagged top honour in table tennis event. The English pair outclassed the Indians 3-0 (11-7, 13-11, 13-11).
