Ex-NYC mayor joins president's legal team in Russian Federation probe

  • Rudy Giuliani is joining Trump's legal team

Former New York City Mayor and presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani is joining President Donald Trump's personal legal team along with a husband and wife legal team from Coral Gables, in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.

Giuliani will work with Trump's current attorneys, Jay Sekulow and Ty Cobb, the Washington Post reports.

As for why Giuliani took on this role, sources close to the president told the New York Times that Trump might be replacing attorney general Jeff Sessions with Giuliani in the coming months. "My advice onto Mueller has been that: He ought to be allowed to do his own job, he'therefore entitled to do his own position".

Among the first orders of business for the reconstituted team is to determine whether Trump will agree to an interview with Mueller.

"Rudy Giuliani knows Bob Mueller, is respected by Bob Mueller, and knows this system of investigation better than everyone else the president has involved to this point", the anchor said. There's a chance he indeed wants Giuliani to negotiate a swift end to the Mueller probe. In other words, he's less a lawyer than he is an ambassador to Robert Mueller.

Giuliani told The Washington Post that he "formalized" his decision in recent days, including over dinner last week at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

Whatever implications may still surround Giuliani from his pre-election comments, his new involvement in Trump's defense serves as yet another instance of muddied waters and potential conflicts of interest as Trump's pool of trusted allies continues to dwindle.

Jazz trounce Thunder in fourth quarter to tie first-round series
Overall, the trio scored a total of 54 points with no one among them getting 20 markers. "We just didn't score enough points". Jamal Crawford scored 16 points for the eighth-seeded Timberwolves, who are in the playoffs for the first time since 2004.

Sekulow also included Giuliani's statement while announcing his addition to the legal team.

Giuliani's law firm confirmed he would be taking leave "to handle matters unrelated to the firm" for an "unspecified period of time".

He was the Manhattan US Attorney for much of the 1980s, during which he brought many high-profile cases aimed at insider trading on Wall Street, and prosecuted stock trader Ivan Boesky and the firm of Drexel Burnham Lambert.

Trump is also known to be a hard client who does not listen to his attorneys' advice, according to lawyers who know him.

Trump's legal team has been missing a big-name expert on criminal law since Dowd's departure.

"Not the guy I would hire for the job; show horse, not a workhorse", he said. "I have known Donald Trump for nearly 30 years".
