Investigators probe Sunday's fatal plane crash near Crozet

Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown confirms that 68-year-old Carl Bray is the pilot identified in Sunday morning's fatal plane crash.

The remains of the victim will be transferred to the Office of the Medical Examiner for autopsy, examination and positive identification.

Geller said the aircraft was small and privately-owned.

The identity of the man has not yet been released.

Virginia State Police said one person was killed when a small plane crashed in western Albemarle County near Crozet Sunday night, WCAV reported.

The twin-engine Cessna crashed about 9 p.m. Sunday in Crozet, 12 miles (19 kilometers) west of Charlottesville. Authorities say the single-engine plane was headed to Florida when it crashed in rural OH, killing two people on board.

At this time, it is not known how many people were on the plane, and if there were any injuries or fatalities.

The NTSB will work to determine the cause of the crash.
