  • Mark Zuckerberg Discusses The Internet Immigration During Interview

The company plans to post a link at the top of users' news feeds that will allow them to see which apps are connected to their Facebook accounts and what information those apps are permitted to see.

Eighty-seven million Facebook users around the world will find out on Monday if their details were shared with Cambridge Analytica in one of the social network's largest data breaches.

More than 1 million people in each of the UK, Philippines and Indonesia may also have had their personal information harvested as well as 310,000 Australian Facebook users.

Facebook users will have the option to shut off apps individually or turn off third-party access to their apps completely.

Zuckerberg is set to testify by Congress next week.

As previously reported, Facebook information breach was revealed by Christopher Wylie, former Head of Research of Cambridge Analytica last March.

The app vacuumed up not just the data of the people who took it, but also - thanks to Facebook's loose restrictions - data from their friends, too, including details that they hadn't meant to share publicly.

"I know that Facebook is now starting to take steps to rectify that and start to find out who had access to it and where it could have gone, but ultimately it's not watertight to say that, you know, we can ensure that all the data is gone forever", he said.

Facebook has added a new way to remove third-party apps from your profile in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

This is found by clicking on the downward-facing arrow in the upper right of the main desktop on a computer, or or on mobile by tapping on the three horizontal lines on the navigation bar and scrolling to the bottom.

It will have a link to information on which Facebook apps they use and what information they have shared with those apps.

Tick the box next to any apps you'd rather delete and then select "remove".

When asked if he thought Facebook was even able to calculate the number of users affected, Wylie stressed that data can be copied once it leaves a database.

"As part of this process we will also tell people if their information may have been improperly shared with Cambridge Analytica", the company said last week.

It says it received data on 30 million users but never used that information in the 2016 campaign.
