  • It’s good that Marcus Rashford might be thinking about Man Utd exit – Ian Wright

Manchester United's manager Jose Mourinho has given Juventus some extra hope in the race for Anthony Martial, who's struggling to find playing time at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old striker's current contract at Old Trafford is due to expire at the end of next season, although the Red Devils do have the option to extend by a further year.

Reports in France this week claimed Martial had chose to leave Old Trafford after growing frusrated with a lack of playing time, while there have been claims that Rashford is questioning his future.

With that in mind, Martial and Rashford have often been competing for one spot in the team - they have played just 323 minutes alongside each other in the Premier League this season.

Mourinho has refused to get drawn into a debate about Martial and Rashford as he prepares his team for tomorrow's Premier League home match against bottom club West Brom, but insisted the final decision on team selection is his.

"He is the player with more appearances since I arrived at the club".

"If I was you I would go in another direction", Mourinho said of Rashford.

The Manchester United forward's opportunities to play from the start have been limited since Alexis Sanchez's arrival from Arsenal in the January window and there is speculation over his future at the club. "You always go to the one [who isn't playing]", Mourinho said.

The forward has played 97 matches as both a starter and a substitute since the Portuguese manager replaced Louis Van Gaal in August 2016. I probably have to reduce and have a squad of 12 or 13 players. During the week I was trying to fight that result by working well and hard, trying to make the players understand that it is not enough to deserve to finish second. I am surprised because of the quality and experience of numerous players and the squad. "I try to raise the levels of training and I think I managed to do it because I'm really pleased with all these [last few] days".
