Police said the 8-year-old student brought a kitchen knife to school and randomly slashed fellow students, The Associated Press reported. A second-grade male student took out a knife after he put his backpack away and cut three others, according to the Star Tribune.

Close to 100 parents and students who have walked the halls of The Foundation School for Autism gathered for the school's first ever homecoming celebration.

The threats have been taken seriously by police and the man is expected to appear in court on Tuesday with a view to being remanded in custody over the offence, West Copenhagen Police have confirmed. Without any warning, the Minnesota elementary school student began slashing his classmates. Police, ambulance and parents were called and responded.

Beise says authorities don't file charges against children that young, they instead try to get them help.

One of the injured children is a seventh-grader who was waiting to catch a transfer bus.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Dalrymple added: "He's a superb tactician, he's a superb strategist and he's a superb man-manager". Their success is not without controversy, however, following their tie-up with Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes.

"I don't think he had an intended target when he came to school with a knife", Sauk Rapids Police Chief Chief Perry Beise tells WCCO.

Watkins said the school made mental health counsellors available to students and staff. Classes went on as scheduled. The school has just under 800 students. The attacker will not be allowed back in school, the superintendent said.
