  • Scientists have developed a patch that could help prevent unpleasant food poisoning by detecting harmful bacteria such

Consumers who have store-bought chopped romaine at home should not eat it and should throw it away, the CDC said. Twenty-two people have been hospitalized, including three who have developed a type of kidney failure called hemolytic uremic syndrome.

It is advised if you have store bought romaine lettuce to throw it away, even if you have already eaten some and not gotten sick. The agency said it has not identified specific farms or companies that grew, supplied and distributed the contaminated vegetables. At this time, this advisory only applies to chopped, bagged romaine, not other forms of romaine such as whole heads or hearts.

The CDC and Department of Health will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. If you can't get confirmation, don't buy it or eat it.

In addition, consumers are warned to not purchase or consume any romaine lettuce of unknown origins; if the origins are known, avoid romaine lettuce originating from Yuma, Arizona.

Health officials said these people became ill between March 22 and March 31; the majority of them reported that they ate romaine lettuce within a week before they became sick.

She ordered the lawyers - including Cohen - to return to court Monday with more details, including a list of Cohen's clients. Cohen said he paid Daniels $130,000 in exchange for her silence about her claim to have had a one-night-stand with Trump.

The first case was reported on March 22, and six people were taken ill on March 26, the peak day of the outbreak so far, the CDC reported.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare says E. coli infections are linked to lettuce from Yuma, Arizona.

A map of the outbreak shows that people have been sickened in seven states across a wide geographical area. Most people infected with E. coli will develop diarrhea, severe stomach cramps and vomiting within 3-4 days of swallowing the germ.

Public health officials in the Idaho Division of Public Health and multiple Idaho public health districts are continuing to work with the Food and Drug Administration and CDC to investigate the cause of the illnesses.

Identifying a common source for E. coli infections is particularly challenging because individuals could potentially eat several meals spanning several places before experiencing symptoms and falling ill.
