Philadelphia Sixers' Center Joel Embiid has cleared the NBA's concussion protocol. He wasn't cleared for contact activities until Saturday.

Embiid suffered an orbital bone fracture around his left eye in a March 28 collision with teammate Markelle Fultz and underwent surgery to fix the injury. He was expected to miss 2-4 weeks, meaning he could return close to the beginning of the playoffs or after the first round.

Brown said the Sixers' dominant Game 1 win Saturday did not factor in the team's decision to sit Embiid for Game 2.

He also had a little fun with a different mask. Philadelphia outscored Miami by 31 points in the second half of its 130-103 win, using a number of small-ball lineups after halftime.

The timetable for his return is still unclear.

Kevin Love wants to take leadership role with Cavaliers in playoffs
In Oladipo they have a player capable of taking over a game, but James knows the ropes better than anyone this time of year. Of the Pacers top 10 contributors in minutes per game, only Cory Joseph and Lance Stephenson have played all 82 games.

Belinelli scored 25 with four 3s; Ilyasova went for 17 points and 14 rebounds and was the catalyst as Philly started taking over the game, Dario Saric chipped in 20 points and four 3s of his own, and Simmons went for 17 points, 14 assists and nine rebounds while getting his first taste of the postseason. So we got a pretty good chance for Game 2 or Game 3.

The Sixers own a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series with the Heat.

The Sixers, who set an National Basketball Association record with 16 straight wins to end the season, got the rout in full swing with a raucous crowd behind them. "And to have him come back and save the day because we lost Game 1, that's not going to happen".

Overall, Philadelphia has won 17 consecutive games.
