The U.S. and France have said they have evidence that Syrian President Bashar Assad's military was behind the poison gas attack, but they have made none of that evidence public.

The Syrian regime has repeatedly denied using chemical weapons in Syria's now-seven-year-long war.

And in London, British Prime Minister Theresa May was to face an emergency parliamentary debate Monday over her country's part in the operation.

The U.S. State Department has accused the Syrian government and its ally Russian Federation of trying to cover up the alleged April 7 attack.

Russian Federation requested Tuesday's briefing on Syria's northern city of Raqqa, where Islamic State militants were defeated a year ago by US -backed forces, and the remote Rubkan camp for displaced Syrians near the border with Jordan and Iraq.

According to Hay, investigators will ideally want to talk to victims and doctors to get a picture of the symptoms they were experiencing after the attack and establish a timeline.

On Tuesday, Syrian state media said air defence had shot down missiles over the central province of Homs, with the strikes reportedly targeting regime air bases.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has indicated new economic sanctions will be announced Monday against Russian Federation for enabling Assad's government to continue using chemical weapons.

The alleged gas attack, which Syrian activists say killed more than 40 people, prompted punitive US, British and French airstrikes.

Uzumcu says the incident Tuesday, "again highlights the highly volatile environment in which the FFM (Fact-Finding Mission) is having to work and the security risks our staff are facing".

Worldwide inspectors are expected to soon enter the Syrian town where an alleged chemical attack was carried out earlier this month, Syrian state media reports, awaiting a final all clear from the United Nations. Journalist Seth Doane visits the building shown in previous footage filmed by humanitarian groups and speaks with one local who described the moment the weapons struck.

McKenzie said that plume analysis from the allies' missile strikes and the lack of civilian casualties in the area suggest that no chemical gas escaped into the atmosphere during the strikes that hit their targets early Saturday (Syrian time).

After Russian forces refused to let inspectors into the alleged chemical attack site in Syria, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is now being allowed access.

The U.S. military has said there was "probably" chlorine and "possibly" sarin at "possibly" all the sites.

"Last night, a false alarm that Syrian air space had been penetrated triggered the blowing of air defense sirens and the firing of several missiles", a military source told the agency. Russian Federation declared that the British government was involved in the plotting of the chemical attack in Syria.

The use of chemical weapons violates the most fundamental part of global law. Ahmed Abed al-Nafaa said helicopters were flying before the attack and when he reached the site, people were screaming "chlorine".

Tensions between the USA and Russian Federation have escalated in recent days over the conflict in Syria.

This will further delay the arrival of chemical weapons inspectors at the site.
