  • Dale Winton dead

Dale made his mark in the entertainment industry in the mid-1990s and early 2000s, while starring on shows like Supermarket Sweep and The National Lottery: In It To Win It.

Celebrities tweeted tributes to the star with Davina McCall saying: "I am so so so sad to hear about Dale Winton a lovely, warm, kind, sensitive, generous soul with a touch of naughty!" Dale was named after Dale Robertson, star of the TV western Tales of Wells Fargo.

His parents divorced when he was 10 and his father died three years later on Winton's bar mitzvah. It was her fourth attempt to take her own life. Kind & mischievous, generous & a great story teller.

Winton had spoken previously about his battle with depression following a hard break up while appearing on the Loose Women show in 2016. I did countless interviews over the years and I was always waiting for the question. It exists and anybody out there who has had it knows it exists. I would not leave the house.

The former National Lottery presenter then moved to a million pound five bedroom semi-detached home nine miles away, which he was believed to be renting after selling the home he had lived in for 17 years, on March 23. "It was triggered by a very bad break-up". He adored being in show business & loved meeting fans. He went through a string of jobs, including selling timeshare apartments overseas, while working as a DJ in clubs in Richmond upon Thames and other parts of London.

Syrian rebels give up Damascus area town to government
State television said the military campaign was continuing because insurgents had not agreed to all details of the surrender. They hold pockets in Deir Ezzor and have a presence in Syria s vast Badia desert.

He launched his TV career two years later, working for Channel 4, the Lifestyle Channel and ITV.

This Morning viewers has slammed hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for failing to mention Dale Winton's passing at start of show and giving him a "rushed" tribute.

The well-loved presenter took a four-year break from TV due to health issues and his battle with depression, but he appeared to be in good spirits when he returned to screens in February for his travelogue series "Dale Winton's Florida Fly Drive".

Presenter Jonathan Ross said: "Dale Winton was a real sweetheart".

Late last night (18 April), Dale's agent confirmed that he had died at home at the age of 62, with no cause of death being given at the time. Celebrity status also led Winton to be cast as an irritating gameshow host in the 1996 film Trainspotting and he had fun on TV playing Lord Saruman the White in a 2002 French and Saunders Easter special, and Thomas in the 2011 Comic Relief spoof Uptown Downstairs Abbey. David Walliams is brilliant.
