We didn't hand title to Manchester City - Mourinho

Jose Mourinho's United team had needed to win against West Brom to keep the title race alive but surprisingly lost at home as Jay Rodriguez's header gave the league's bottom side a 1-0 win at Old Trafford.

But, just a week after spoiling City's title party by beating their local rivals 3-2 at the Etihad, the way United abjectly gifted the title to their neighbours will sting.

However, Premier League survival still looks unlikely for the Baggies, who are nine points adrift of 17th-placed Swansea with four matches remaining.

Winning the title by two points from Chelsea, in the Champions League United saw off Barcelona in the semi-finals and, in the final, beat Chelsea on penalties in the Moscow rain.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany on Sky Sports: "We were consistent the whole season and were able to play at the level we were expected to perform at".

In situations such as these - with United being second in the table - Ferguson may have trusted his players to play with more freedom and blow West Brom away, which begs the question of whether Mourinho has the same faith in his squad to deliver.

In that match, Mourinho's side produced a poor first-half display before they rallied to deny City what would have been the sweetest of coronations as champions.

Public Health Officials: E. coli Infections Linked to Romaine Lettuce from Arizona
The agency said it has not identified specific farms or companies that grew, supplied and distributed the contaminated vegetables. It is advised if you have store bought romaine lettuce to throw it away, even if you have already eaten some and not gotten sick.

Victory for West Brom came in just the second game for caretaker boss Darren Moore and the 43-year-old believes restoring a sense of togetherness is the key to ending a torrid season on a high.

"We didn't want or played simple, everything was slow, one more flick, trick, turn".

"It's been the story of our season, 70 percent possession, 1-0, lots of chances and then you wonder how you lose the game", said manager Arsene Wenger afterwards.

While still nine points from safety, it was an wonderful end to a match that had started with Livermore showing composure that belied his role as a midfield enforcer as he cut away from Victor Lindelof to be denied by David De Gea. It's important we continue to fight and work hard for each other.

"We deserve top be punished, but the defeat was too heavy".

Guardiola might not have seen Jay Rodriguez's 73rd-minute winning goal at Old Trafford because he was due to be playing golf with his son instead of watching the match.

And while the outright record for the earliest Premier League finish slipped through their fingers, the club's campaign still ranks among the most successful in the league's history.

Sunderland, who finished bottom of the Premier League last season, are now bottom of the Championship and staring at a future in League One alongside the likes of Fleetwood and Gillingham.
