"If you ask about absolute majority for a party, I am afraid that we have to wait till May 15", Tharoorsaid.Polling for 222 of the 224-member Karnataka Assembly was held yesterday and the counting of votes will be taken up on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, at a Press conference BJP's chief ministerial face and the Lingayat strongman BS Yeddyurappa said the BJP would form the Government and decimate the Congress to make Karnataka Congress-mukt. In 2005, former Prime Minister Gowda had expelled Siddaramaiah from JD (S) and it was then that Siddaramaiah joined Congress.

"From very beginning for last six months I have been telling that Congress party will get majority".

The India TV-VMR exit poll said the ruling Congress could get 97 seats, (in a range of 90 to 103 seats), the BJP 87 seats (in a range of 80-93 seats), and the JDS-BSP alliance could get a decisive role in government formation with 35 seats (in a 31-39 seat range).

A day after the perhaps most contentious assembly polls, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Dr G Parameshwara on Sunday made it clear that his party was not anxious about the hung assembly predictions by exit polls and expressed confidence of the ruling Congress party securing a comfortable majority of its own. Analysts, however, don't rule out the possibility of Mayawati, under CBI lens for alleged irregularities in sale of sugar mills when she was UP CM, joining the BJP-JD (S) coalition government in Karnataka.

Yeddyurappa, who has been chief minister earlier too, said he will waive off loans after taking office as promised in the India's Bharatiya Janata Party manifesto.

Israeli DM urges Assad to get rid of Iran forces

"In a forty-minute video that has been made public and broadcast widely in the regional Kannada media on the evening of May 10, 2018, it is clearly seen that the candidate Shri.B.Sriramulu and three other individuals (identified as G.Janardhana Reddy, Captain Reddy and Swamiji) are seen sitting with the son-in-law of a former Chief Justice of India". The BJP will win more than 125-130 seats.

He further added, "So, Dear party workers, supporters & well wishers, don't worry about exit polls".

Karnataka has an electorate of over 4.97 crores, including 2.52 crore men and 2.45 crore women.

His comments come at a time as he awaits the results of his fierce electoral fight from two constituencies in the 15th Legislative Assembly elections - Chamundeshwari and Badami.

Exit polls released by various news organisations and survey agencies on Saturday revealed the possibility of a hung assembly with majority predicting that BJP will likely emerge as the single-largest party in the election.
