  • Data Leak Scandal: Facebook Blocked 200 Apps For Data Misuse

You won't need to leave Messenger anymore to report conversations, as Facebook is introducing new tools on mobile that will ...

In March, it was revealed how a personality quiz on Facebook named thisisyourdigitallife managed to access and then sell data of over 50 million users of the social networking site to a political consultancy. Here's the thing, though - the company will not say which apps it suspended.

The Justice Department and the FBI are investigating Cambridge Analytica, the now-defunct political-data firm at the center of Facebook's data privacy scandal, according to The New York Times. NPR's Laura Sydell reports that many privacy advocates remain skeptical of the company's ability to protect users' privacy.

Cambridge Analytica, the highly scrutinized data firm that had ties to the Trump campaign, is under investigation by the Department of Justice and the FBI, according to The New York Times, which cited an American official and other individuals familiar with the matter. At that time, Facebook allowed third-party apps to access data of the Facebook friends of people who used an app, even if the friends never used the app in question.

Google Drive has changed its name
Users who do not pay for additional storage on Google Drive will be unaffected, and users will still receive 15GB of free storage. If you're on the plan, you'll get things like Google Play credit, deals on select hotels found in Google Search, and more.

Researchers working with the myPersonality project, including app creator David Stillwell, shared anonymous samples from the project with other researchers around the world, according to myPersonality. The meeting occurred last month, as part of the fallout of the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

The social network will be conducting a "thorough investigation" to check whether these apps have misused user data or not.

Allegations of the improper use of data for 87 million Facebook users by Cambridge Analytica, which was hired by President Donald Trump's 2016 USA election campaign, have prompted multiple investigations in the United States and Europe. At that point, it will help Facebook users to determine if those apps used their personal data. They mentioned that the committee found Schroepfer's responses to questions lacking and asked Zuckerberg to appear or the Facebook CEO will face the consequences.
