The latest new tool for Gmail is an autocomplete feature called Smart Compose.
Among other features revealed in Android P, GoogleannouncedApp Actions and Slices, aimed at improving suggestions and making it simpler for users to perform the next action without going through too many steps in between. Google calls the technology VPS, or visual positioning system. It's used with the Google Assistant, the search giant's rival to Amazon's Alexa and Apple's Siri, and for now it will mainly be used to book appointments and reservations on your behalf over the phone. What the users need to do is log on to the Beta Program website and sign into their Google account.

At Google I/O 2018, the internet company just demoed Duplex, a powerful upgrade to the Google Assistant, which holds the potential to revolutionise both our personal productivity as well as the expectations we have of artificial intelligence (AI) in our lives. The creepy part is the other party has no idea they are talking to a machine, something that can be abused in any number of different ways. Likely be launched later in the year, here are a few features provided for the OS.
So, how does this actually work? The Assistant will give you a quick snapshot of your day, with suggestions based on the time of day, location and recent interactions with the Assistant. Just provide the date and time, and your Assistant will call the business to coordinate for you. The company already has access to nearly everything you do in a day, but should it also know each and every appointment you're setting? If your son sets an appointment using your phone, an appointment you aren't aware of till the calendar notification rings, are you liable to honour it?
The engineers who designed Duplex address the issue only vaguely in the company blog post.
Duplex is created to respond in a natural manner and adapt to responses in real time, while understanding the context of the conversation. Google says the technology is rolling out as "an experiment" in coming weeks. This means there would be some factor of human intervention in the process, should things not go as planned.
The AI is even programmed to understand when to respond quickly, such as after someone says "hello", versus pausing as a person would before answering complex questions.
