Monday, may 14, in Sochi on the summit of the countries-members of the Union met the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinian and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

Pashinyan said he wanted to inject new energy into developing already close ties between Moscow and Yerevan and thanked Putin for the way the Russian leader had handled the Armenian street protests.

The appointment ended weeks of street protests led by Pashinyan against the election of Serzh Sargsyan, Armenia's president for the past 10 years, to the premiership office. "We highly appreciate Moscow's neutral position during the internal political crisis of Armenia", Pashinyan noted.

The Armenian PM repeated his statement that the relations of the two countries must be developed independently from geopolitical factors.

".We really appreciate the balanced position which Russian Federation adopted during our domestic crisis", said Pashinyan.

Their title hopes rest largely on Fleury-with the third-best goals-against average (1.74) in the playoffs-and the defensive lines. The series now shifts to Las Vegas for the next two contests with game three scheduled for Wednesday.

"The JCPOA guarantees peace and stability in the region and Armenia has never been -and will never be- a part of any move against Iran", added Pashinyan. Putin went on to congratulate Pashinyan on his victory in front of his Belarusian, Kazakh and Kyrgyz counterparts while opening the summit.

Pashinian was clear throughout the three-week revolution in the small impoverished nation of Armenia across April and May that he meant to maintain good relations with Russian Federation, also a major source of business and investment, and dismissed out of hand speculation that Moscow sought to manipulate the outcome of the popular uprising that ousted the incumbent regime of the previous prime minister Serzh Sargsyan, who resigned on April 23.

"I want to wish you success in the post of the head of government", Putin told Pashinian in his opening remarks at their first-ever face-to-face talks. I think we should work hard in the future since there are serious issues in Armenia's foreign policy agenda that are vital for the country. He added that the ties between the small Caucasus nation and its former Soviet master should be based on "sincerity".

The parliament of Armenia elected Pashinyan prime minister by the pressure of the demonstrations of the opposition, even though his own party holds a minority in the parliament.
