Israel has neither confirmed or denied responsibility for that attack. Further waves of missiles followed.

Cuba and Iran established diplomatic ties in 1975.

Russia's foreign ministry said it was "deeply disappointed" by Trump's announcement on Tuesday that the United States would pull out of the Iran deal, while Netanyahu strongly supported the USA president's "bold" move. Iran's quest for regional hegemony went unchecked.

Israel considers Iran an existential threat because of its nuclear and missile programs, its support of violent anti-Israel groups in the region and frequent calls for destruction of the Jewish state. The objective is believed to have been a base for Iranian fighters allied with the Syrian government.

It also has spy drones that it can use to attack from the sky.

It blamed the rocket fire on Iran's Al-Quds force, adding that Israel's anti-missile system intercepted four of the projectiles while the rest did not land in its territory. An Israeli warplane was shot down during the battle.

On Tuesday, after the president announced that the United States would be leaving the 2015 multilateral deal with Iran - also signed by France, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, and Germany - reports emerged about an Israeli strike in Syria.

An official with the Iran-led regional alliance supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad said the strike targeted a Syrian army position but killed a Syrian man and his wife who happened to be passing by in their auto.

Last month, an attack on Syria's T4 air base in Homs province killed seven Iranian military personnel.

The event took place amid heightened tensions after the Israelis fired rockets on military positions in Qunaitera, and after rockets slammed Israeli military sites in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The Israeli army has threatened the Syrian regime not to respond to the attack, or else they will face dire consequences.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a televised address after Trump's announcement, lauding the USA president's hard tack on Iran and alluding to the tensions over Syria.

Israeli officials have been predicting an Iranian "attack" against them in retaliation for the various Israeli strikes in recent weeks.

Southern Lebanon's rolling hills bordering Israel are another arena of influence for Tehran through its Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah.

"They are not going to risk a war with Israel.to punish the Americans".

"This just further shows that the Iranian regime can not be trusted", Sanders said in a television interview.
