"I've been popping Valium for the pain, especially when I hear about my oldest daughter", he said. But he also reportedly said doctors are still performing tests and he is not sure whether he will be released from the hospital in time for Saturday's wedding.

April 4, 2018Photos of Thomas Markle were revealed showing the soon-to-be royal's father reading a book titled Images of Britain in a cafe in Baja California in Mexico, where he lives.

Kensington Palace, Harry's office, could not immediately be reached for comment on Tuesday. They were what one might expect paparazzi snaps of a non-famous person would look like: mundane and, well, a little unflattering.

Will Meghan Markle's father be at her wedding this Saturday to walk his daughter down the aisle?

The Daily Mail reports that Thomas Markle was caught on CCTV collaborating with Los Angeles-based paparazzi photographer Jeff Rayner on a series of photos that were sold to publications around the world for up to £100,000 (~$136,000).

She credits her dad for inspiring her interest in acting and for supporting her when she was auditioning for roles.

"Of course, I'd walk her down the aisle", he reportedly said. This decision is after the major potential scandal when it was found out that Thomas Markle apparently collaborated with the paparazzi to stage photos.

Mr Markle said he would not be attending the Royal Wedding after he suffered a heart attack six days ago.

Britain's royal family requested "understanding and respect" be extended to Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, amid the "difficult situation".

Kensington Palace did not confirm that Mr Markle would be missing the wedding, but issued a statement asking for understanding. Both parents were further expected to meet the Queen and the rest of the royal family in the lead-up to the big day. That said, he now regrets having the photos taken, saying that they made him look "stupid and hammy".

The decision comes after it emerged that he had used a picture agency to set up images of him working out and reading books about the United Kingdom in the run-up to the wedding.

Ms Markle's half-sister, Samantha Markle, said she hoped her father would be at the ceremony.

She is not on the wedding guest list. Those images are now known to be staged photos; Markle's half sister, Samantha, has taken credit for the idea.

"I feel that the media have unfairly preyed on him and he has really been admirable about laying low and not speaking out on certain things", Markle told ITV. He also said he had been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack a week ago.

On Tuesday morning, TMZ was back with a new story: Markle told the website he had decided he would go to the wedding, after daughter Meghan contacted him to plead with him.
