"Faced with an increasingly repressive political and legal environment in Hungary, the Open Society Foundations are moving their Budapest-based worldwide operations and staff to the German capital, Berlin, " the group announced on Tuesday.

Billionaire George Soros's nongovernmental foundation will quit Hungary, citing persecution faced by its staff that has made its work "impossible".

Patrick Gaspard, the president of the Open Society Foundations, lashed out at Budapest, saying it has "denigrated and misrepresented our work", while repressing civil society "for the sake of political gain". The law was termed the "Stop Soros" bill. The government's hate campaign has included propaganda posters and billboards, invoking anti-Semitic imagery from World War II, and a supposed "national consultation" attacking George Soros, founder and chair of the Open Society Foundations, and Hungarian human rights groups.

Soros' Open Society Foundations, which promote democracy and free speech, have also endured threats of legal sanctions from the government.

Soros, through his Open Society Foundations initiative, has pushed for pro-immigration policies attracting the ire of Orban and his supporters.

They were what one might expect paparazzi snaps of a non-famous person would look like: mundane and, well, a little unflattering. Kensington Palace did not confirm that Mr Markle would be missing the wedding, but issued a statement asking for understanding.

It added, however, that it would "pursue all available legal avenues to defend the fundamental rights that are threatened by the legislation". It would also impose a 25 percent tax on foreign donations to NGOs that back migration. Zovacs studied at the Central European University, a school Soros helped fund.

As you know, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has been in power since 2010, in recent months sharpened his nationalist rhetoric and especially critical of the USA billionaire George Soros.

"CEU can not go into another academic year in a situation of legal uncertainty", its rector Michael Ignatieff said on Tuesday. The group now has annual expenditures of over $940 million, operates in over 100 countries across the globe, with 26 national and regional foundations and offices.

"We call on the government to sign the agreement without further delay".
