  • Stan Lee Files $1B Lawsuit Against POW! Entertainment for

Lee, a legend in the entertainment industry who co-created numerous comics characters beloved around the world-including Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the Incredible Hulk, among others-filed a $1 billion suit against the company he co-founded in 2001, POW! Entertainment for stealing his likeness.

Lee is in the news again with a new law suit, for 1 billion dollars, against POW!

The Marvel Comics legend, 95, founded the firm in 2001, but sold it previous year (17) to Hong Kong company Camsing International Holding. Lee claimed that his fellow co-founders had "forged or fraudulently obtained" his signature to gain illegal rights to the usage of his name anytime.

When he had first formed POW!, it was meant to be a mere holding company for his vast property used for comics and animation. CEO Shane Duffy and co-found Gill Champion were involved in a "nefarious scheme" to steal his valuable name and likeness. Camsing then gained exclusive rights to the company and POW!

Entertainment to have access to his numerous social media accounts.

According to the complaint filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Lee has been selective about licensing his name and likeness and will only authorize the use on a non-exclusive basis. Now, word has it that Lee is suing POW! Lee also has to deal with some macular degeneration which has rendered him legally blind since 2015.

Earlier this year, reports said Stan Lee was having troubles with elder abuse. The suit contends that they took advantage of Lee, who was despondent at the time over the death of his wife Joan and was suffering from macular degeneration. Entertainment and two of its executives have conspired to steal his name, identity, and likeness without his consent. Lee's lawyers suggested that both Duffy and Champion, along with former business manager Jeraldo Olivarez, convinced him to sign a document that he thought to be a non-exclusive license with POW!

"I appreciate everything you say and do. You guys are my true superheroes", he wrote.

It's only the latest dramatic legal matter surrounding the co-creator of comic characters including Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, The X-Men and Thor. While the Illegitimate Document purports to contain Lee's signature, Lee never knowingly signed it.

Lee was himself accused last month of sexual battery and battery after he was sued by massage therapist Maria Carballo.
