  • Clapper US is'in a much better place after Trump Kim summit

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has accepted US President Donald Trump's invitation to visit the US, and the US president has accepted Kim's invitation to visit Pyongyang, North Korean state news agency KCNA reported Tuesday.

But Trump also touted an agreement signed on Tuesday that calls for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula in exchange for the US providing unspecified "security guarantees" for the North.

Trump said aides would begin additional talks soon and said he would potentially invite Kim to the White House and be open to a visit to Pyongyang "at the appropriate time".

The KCNA report also said Trump would lift sanctions against the North - a claim that contradicted comments from the president Tuesday that the measures would "come off when we are sure that the nukes are no longer a factor". It's going to start very quickly.

"His country does love him", Trump said. At one point, they said this was a radical switch-over from the most hostile state of our relationship.

Trump said he had formed a "special bond" with Kim, whom he described as "very talented".

The measured reactions to the summit from Khanna, Warren and Sanders could not be further from those of Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

Trump have complied with the rules and restrictions as set out by the Office of Government Ethics. Trump reportedly donated the proceeds from the book to the Ivanka M.

Trump later extolled the North Korea leader on Twitter, writing that "there is no limit to what NoKo can achieve when it gives up its nuclear weapons and embraces commerce & engagement w/ the world". For one thing, North Korea's commitment on "complete denuclearization" is simply a repeat of its previous promise from the inter-Korean summit in April, and it lacks a clear definition.

"We will be stopping the war games, which will save us a tremendous amount of money", Trump said during a post-summit news conference. We fly in bombers from Guam... to practice and drop bombs all over the place and then go back to Guam.

"We are hopeful this summit will have set the conditions for future successful talks", Pompeo said yesterday evening.

In the face of Trump's well-honed, reality-TV style and reputation as an unpredictable diplomatic opponent, the North Korean leader avoided the inclusion of CVID - or complete, verifiable, irreversible denuclearisation - in the summit's joint statement - all without appearing confrontational. The likelihood of Trump launching a first strike against North Korea, thus setting South Korea, where more than 100,000 Americans live and/or work, ablaze and risking a strike against population centers in the USA, was similarly low.

Trump came away clearly buoyed by the interactions with the leader of a brutal regime whom the president referred to derisively past year as "Little Rocket Man". It mentioned a plan for senior officials, led on the US side by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to keep talking.

The trailer portrays Trump and Kim as the two leading characters of the film - but the outcome is yet unknown.

"We would like to seek an understanding of this between Japan, the USA and South Korea", Onodera was quoted as saying. But I don't think this is what people believe now.
